Hunting Matagorda County winters several goose species, including snow/blue geese, speckled bellies, Ross geese and Canada geese. Duck hunting can be done while hunting geese (it’s not uncommon to shoot ducks from the goose spread). We also offer guided trips on the bays, where you may bag mallards, pintails, gadwalls, widgeons and teal. Late season hunts often produce 8 to 10 more species on the same hunt. We also have great diver duck hunts for redheads, bluebills, ringnecks, buffleheads and mergansers. Sandhill crane hunting is a favorite, and we offer crane hunts over decoys or pass shooting.
