It has been confirmed that once again the dewberries have accurately predicted the snow goose hatch.
You may remember a previous blog post of mine where I explain the Larry Gore style of predicting the goose hatch. He used the condition of the dewberry crop in Texas as an indicator of whether there was a normal spring (weather-wise) in Canada, which helps the geese have a good hatch of young birds.
Well, Canadian goose hunters are reporting an above-average percentage of juvenile birds! This, combined with little to no hunting pressure on the birds due to Covid will allow us to hunt virgin birds in the good ole' U.S. of A.

Juvenile snow geese are much more gullible and once separated from the adults are downright dumb. The whole game changes when there is a high percentage of young birds. Small groups will trickle off the roost in search of a place of their own. You will see lots of ones and twos. It actually levels the playing field in my personal war against snow geese.
Third Coast Outfitters is gonna kick some snow goose ass this year. 💃🏻🎉🎊

230-bird hunt Dec. 23, 2017 (in Arkansas). This is what we're looking forward to this year. Don't miss it!
